Mindful Eating Workshop
with Dr. Micheline Vargas

Many of us have spent countless hours counting carbs, fats, and calories in an attempt to improve health and lose weight. We often force ourselves to restrict or eliminate one food or another. Our attempts to control our food often fail. We feel defeated and often become more self-critical, which fuels our desire to eat the very foods we are fighting against. To make matters worse, restrictive dieting detaches us from our body’s natural internal cues.
This workshop offers a new approach. Research shows that mindful eating coupled with self-compassion can help us transform our relationship with food. You’ll learn to be more present and gain more pleasure from food, while changing your eating behaviors for the better.
Dr. Micheline Vargas is a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), and a Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) Instructor. She has provided nutritional counseling to professional athletes and sports teams, and is currently teaching The Science and Practice of Mindful Eating; Exercise and Sports Nutrition; Mood and Food; and Exercise, Mood and Neuroplasticity at UCLA Extension. She has practiced yoga and mindfulness for 15 years – you may have seen her in class at our studio!
Cost includes the workshop session, food for the in-class eating meditations, handouts, and guided meditation recordings to use at home.

Teen Yoga – Class Series
with Rachel Gonzalez
Wednesdays this Fall, 4:30-5:30
Bring a friend and join Rachel Gonzalez, RYT-200, for Teen Yoga classes here at Spiral Path this Fall!
For teens in 9th-12th grades, all levels welcome. The Teen Yoga classes are a 6-week series on Wednesdays at 4:30, with a new session starting on October 25th. If you’ve missed a few, that’s ok – you can still drop in and give it a try! Classes meet for 60 minutes. Expect stress-relieving movement and mindfulness, empowering yoga poses, and fun music!
